Backyard BBQ Chili

All the spicy, sweet and savory fun of a chili cook-off right in your backyard!

Ingredients

  • 14 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup large onion, diced
  • 1 cup medium green pepper, diced
  • 2 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 tsp Spice Islands® Minced Garlic
  • 2 lb ground beef or venison
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 can tomato sauce (29-oz each)
  • 1 cup Weber® Sweet & Thick Original BBQ Sauce
  • 2 cup water
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 6 tbsp Spice Islands® Chili Powder
  • 2 tsp Spice Islands® Crushed Red Pepper
  • 1 tsp Spice Islands® Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp Spice Islands® Fine Grind Black Pepper
  • 12 tsp Spice Islands® Celery Seed
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 2 can kidney beans, drained (15-oz. each)

Directions

  1. Melt butter in large pot. Add onions, green pepper, celery and minced garlic.
  2. Cook until tender but not brown.
  3. Add ground beef and pork. Stir occasionally until meat is cooked through and no pink remains.
  4. Add tomato sauce, barbeque sauce, water, sugar, spices and salt.
  5. Mix well. Simmer at least 2 hours. Add kidney beans; heat for 5 minutes.
