Directions
- Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, combine buttermilk, Weber® Southern Comfort™ Whiskey Flavored Seasoning, and hot sauce (if using). Add chicken thighs, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for 1 to 4 hours.
- Prepare Dredge: In a shallow dish, mix flour, cornstarch, and Weber® Southern Comfort™ Whiskey Flavored Seasoning. Sieve the mixture before starting to ensure a smooth, lump-free coating.
- Heat Oil: In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat 2 inches of vegetable oil to 340°F over medium heat. Use a thermometer to maintain consistent oil temperature.
- Coat Chicken: Remove chicken from the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coating. For an extra crispy crust, dip the chicken back into the buttermilk, then dredge again in the flour mixture. Let the coated chicken rest on a wire rack for 10–15 minutes before frying.
- Fry Chicken: Carefully add chicken to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for 10–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Use a thermometer for accuracy.
