Ingredients
- 2 lbs salmon fillet, skin on
- 2 oranges, zested and juiced
- 4 oranges, sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for brushing
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- ¼ cup Weber® Bold Sweet & Smoky Chipotle Seasoning Blend
- 2 sprigs cilantro, for garnish
A bold and flavorful salmon dish seasoned with Weber® Bold Sweet & Smoky Chipotle Seasoning Blend, paired with fresh oranges for a perfect balance of smoky, sweet, and citrusy flavors.
Directions
- Prepare grill: Preheat grill to medium heat, 350°F–400°F. Clean and oil the grates to prevent sticking.
- Make marinade: In a bowl, whisk together orange zest, orange juice, olive oil, brown sugar, and Weber® Bold Sweet & Smoky Chipotle Seasoning Blend until well combined.
- Season salmon: Lightly brush the salmon fillet with olive oil. Generously coat the top and sides of the salmon with the prepared marinade mixture.
- Grill salmon: Arrange orange slices directly on the grill grates to create a base for the salmon. Place the salmon on top of the orange slices, skin side down. Grill for 15–20 minutes, or until the thickest part of the fillet is cooked through and no longer translucent.
- Serve: Carefully remove the salmon from the grill and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with additional orange slices for a citrusy finish.
Tips & Tricks
- For even cooking and added citrus flavor, baste the salmon with the marinade mixture halfway through grilling. This keeps the fish moist and enhances the sweet and smoky glaze.
- Choose a salmon fillet that is evenly thick, around 1 to 1½ inches, to ensure uniform cooking. Thinner edges may overcook, so you can tuck them under the fillet for better results on the grill.
