Bacon Cheddar BBQ Burger With Caramelized Onion Jam

Ingredients

Juicy beef patties seasoned with Weber® Gourmet Burger® Seasoning, topped with crispy bacon, smoky caramelized onions infused with Weber® Sweet & Thick BBQ Sauce, melted cheddar, and more BBQ sauce, all stacked on a toasted bun for the ultimate burger experience.

Directions

  1. Prepare grill and cook bacon: Preheat grill to medium heat 350°F–400°F with a grill pan over direct heat.
  2. Place bacon strips directly on the grill grates and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, turning as needed, until crispy. Remove from grill and set aside.
  3. Caramelize onions: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 12–15 minutes until onions are lightly browned.
  4. Sprinkle with ½ tsp Weber® Gourmet Burger® Seasoning and brown sugar, then stir in 2 tbsp Weber® Sweet & Thick Original BBQ Sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until well caramelized. Set aside.
  5. Prepare patties: Increase grill heat to high 400°F–450°F.
  6. Gently shape ground beef into four 5-inch patties. Generously season both sides of the patties with Weber® Gourmet Burger® Seasoning.
  7. Grill burgers: Place patties on the grill over direct medium heat. Close the lid and grill for 12–15 minutes, turning once, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F for medium doneness.
  8. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese to melt.
  9. Assemble burgers<:/strong> Toast the hamburger buns on the grill, cut side down, for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
  10. Place 2 slices of bacon on the bottom half of each bun. Add a burger patty, and caramelized onions.
  11. Drizzle with Weber® Sweet & Thick Original BBQ Sauce. Cover with the top bun.
  12. Serve: Serve immediately with extra BBQ sauce on the side. Enjoy!

Tips & Tricks

  • To ensure juicy burgers, make a small indentation in the center of each patty before grilling. This prevents the patties from puffing up as they cook, ensuring even grilling and perfect stacking.
